Seriya Cutbush
Co-founder - Sound Healing Australia
She is a devoted Kirtan singer and instrumentalist, using devotional chanting as part of her healing practice. In her work. Seriya creates sacred spaces, aiming to respect, support, nurture, and inspire healing and personal growth in others.
Seriya spent six years as the Experiences Coordinator at The Crystal Castle, managing facilitators and leading workshops on Meditation, Yoga, Nature, Crystals, and Sound Healing. Seriya also served as the Operations Manager for Miimi and Jiinda, an indigenous artist and designer, drawing on her childhood and adult experiences with indigenous cultures to infuse her work with reverence for ritual and ceremony.
Seriya’s tertiary background in theatre, music and teaching, has given her a solid foundation to skilfully hold space. Regularly hosting womens’ healing events, international retreats, and facilitating large workshops and events, Seriya is highly skilled and experienced in group facilitation.
Seriya co-founded Sound Healing Australia in 2016 with Matty Rainbow, offering transformative Sound of Being experiences globally. Their modality, based on Vedic and Shamanic teachings, combines sound therapy, breathwork, energy medicine, and meditation.
Seriya teaches training programs for students worldwide, sharing her wisdom and offering foundational online programs and mentoring in various healing modalities. Matty's approach to healing is holistic, drawing on a deep understanding of the body's energy systems and the mind-body connection. He is committed to making sound healing accessible to all, which inspired the creation of the Sound of Being workshops and facilitator trainings.
Based in the Byron Shire, Matty lives with Seriya and their two daughters. Mia Hay is a multifaceted professional in the realm of health and wellbeing, blending her expertise as a holistic nutritionist and whole foods chef.
Her journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Bastyr University, complemented by roles as a Registered Nurse and Certified Yoga Instructor and Teacher Trainer.
Drawing from Ayurvedic principles, Mia crafts meals that deeply nourish both body and soul, infusing each dish with reverence and creativity.

- What are the check-in and check-out times?Check-in: Thursday, October 16, 2024: from 1pm-2pm and
Check-out: Sunday, October 19, 2024: at 10am after breakfast and the closing ceremony - Which airport should I fly into?Fly into Gold Coast (Coolangatta) Airport. We offer a transfer option from Gold Coast Airport, which is a 45minute drive to Gymea Eco Retreat.
- Where is the retreat being held?The retreat is being held at Gymea Eco Retreat & Spa in Uki, Northern NSW. Learn more at https://www.visitgymearetreat.com.au/
- How do I get to the retreat center?We offer a shuttle bus transfer from Gold Coast Airport to the Retreat Center for $90 return. A booking link will be provided once you register for the retreat. We ask that you fly into the Gold Coast in the morning to be prepared for 12pm shuttle departure if you choose to book that.
Directions for travel by car can be found here: https://www.gymearetreat.com.au/directions/ - Can guests arrive before the retreat start date?No, you will need to seek accommodation outside of the retreat center.
- Is there a town within walking distance?No, the nearest town is Uki village, a 5minute drive away. We strongly encourage guests to stay on the grounds throughout the retreat and hit the pause button from the outside world.
- Is there WIFI at Gymea?Yes, but only in the main hall. We ask all guests to keep their phones on flight mode during activities to connect with nature. There will be designated times for checking phones for important calls and family communication. There is also limited phone signal.
- Are meals included at the retreat?Yes, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided once the retreat starts. The first meal will be dinner on the eve of check-in, and the last meal will be breakfast at 7:30am on the final day.
Unlimited access to herbal and black teas will be available. Plus a simple morning and afternoon tea, and a bowl of seasonal fruit will on offer. - What kind of food is provided at the retreat?The food is one of the highlights! You will be wellfed with vegetarian Ayurvedicinspired meals, glutenfree with dairyfree options. We will do our best to accommodate your dietary requirements. Please ensure you have submitted your Retreat Guest Information form so we can support you as much as possible.
We believe the choices of food we eat affect our health, environment, and communities. Byron Bay has an abundance of local fresh produce, allowing us to use organic and pesticidefree ingredients whenever possible. All food is prepared onsite, ensuring the freshest meals. - Can we cook on the premises?No, there are no cooking facilities in the rooms, and the retreat kitchen is not available to guests.
- Are massage appointments available?Yes, a booking link for therapies will be provided after booking. These will be offered during your free time.
- Is there a laundry service?No, there is no laundry service available.
- Are yoga mats and blankets provided?Yes, yoga mats, blankets, and blocks are provided in the octagon. However, you are welcome to bring your own mat or blanket if preferred.

However, many people come to our retreats alone and leave with lifelong friends. Trust that there is a reason for you to be here with us. If you feel called to come along, we encourage you to follow your heart.
- Does it matter if I've never done yoga?Not at all. We can modify activities to suit your ability. Our yoga focuses on gentle yin style to support nervous system restoration, suitable for all levels.
- I'm worried about my physical abilities and health.We adapt our activities to suit individual needs. Please complete the questionnaire prior to attending to advise us of any health concerns. We understand that it can be big coming to a new place with new people when you have health concerns, but know that Seriya and Matty are well trained in many modalities and there is an incredible team at Gymea to support you.
- I'm worried I am not “spiritual enough.”Our retreat focuses on understanding your nervous system restoration and connecting with nature. Seriya and Matty create a safe space for play and rest, fostering spiritual growth naturally. Our interpretation of spirituality is not an external experience; we are all spiritual beings. This retreat invites you to understand yourself more deeply while being held by nature and others. It's about gentle exploration rather than diving into deep traumas.
- Is alcohol, drugs, or smoking allowed on the retreat?We encourage letting go of external crutches. Alcohol and drugs are not offered, and smoking is not allowed on the property. Smokers can leave the property during free time.
- I'm nervous about sharing a room but can't afford a solo room.Sharing a room with a stranger can be edgy, and we understand that. Seriya and Matty have both had the deepest connections in their lives birthed from sharing rooms at retreats or trainings. Rooms will be grouped by same sex as much as possible. We invite you to reach out to us if this is a high priority for you, as we want to honor your needs. You will mostly use your room to sleep and shower, as the stunning surroundings encourage exploration and relaxation in other areas.
- Will I have my own shower and toilet?Each room has an open shower, private if in a solo room, shared if in a shared room. The toilets are separate from the rooms.
- I'm scared of being in the rainforest.Originally in all of our ancestry, we lived in nature. This retreat offers an opportunity to reconnect with stillness, quiet, deep listening, and spontaneous communication with the natural surroundings. The elements have much to teach us. We invite you to lean in and know that we will support you every step of the way.
- I value chemical free living, will the sheets on the bed and cleaning products be organic and chemical free?Yes, everything in the Gymea Retreat Centre is organic and chemical free. The sheets are 100% organic cotton, the mattresses and pillows are also high quality and organic.
- Will there be any other time commitments, on top of the retreat weekend?We will be running a zoom call 1 week prior to retreat and 2 weeks post retreat. This is an important way to drop into presence together, answer any practical questions, connect in with intentions and the group collective and support you in feeling safe emotionally and physically before arrival. The post call is to support the integration and connect back in with the group and Seriya and Matty. We are huge advocated for honouring the power of this work with frequency and part of that is keeping connected with you all post retreat immersion.
- Will there be photography and videography at the retreat?No, there will not be photography or videography during the retreat. We highly value your safety and want to keep you in a nurturing environment without distractions from the outside world. This retreat is an opportunity to truly honor the power of frequency and maintain the highest integrity in each moment, for both guests and facilitators. However, guests will be invited to offer a video testimonial at the end of the retreat, if they feel called to do so.

These terms and conditions outline the agreement between Sound Healing Australia ("we," "us," or "our") and the individual participant ("you" or "your") regarding your booking and participation in our retreats. By booking a retreat with us, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:
1. Booking and Payment
1.1. A strictly non-refundable deposit of $600 AUD is required at the time of booking to secure your spot.
1.2. The remaining balance is due 14 days before the retreat start date. Failure to pay the balance by the due date may result in the cancellation of your booking without refund of your deposit or transfer to a future retreat.
1.3. All payments must be completed by the specified due dates.
2. Cancellation and Transfer Policy
2.1. Cancellation by You:
The $600 deposit is strictly non-refundable.
The full retreat amount is non-refundable under all circumstances; however, if you provide a minimum of 3 months' notice prior to the retreat start date, the amount paid (excluding the deposit) may be transferred to a future retreat or training of your choice, subject to availability.
Cancellations made less than 3 months before the retreat start date are not eligible for a transfer or refund. These conditions are strict and non-negotiable to ensure fairness to all participants and to maintain the integrity of our retreat planning process.
2.2. Cancellation by Us:
If we cancel the retreat due to unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full transfer of all payments made, including your $600 deposit, to a future retreat of your choice. We are not liable for any other expenses incurred (e.g., travel costs).
3. Changes to the Program
3.1. We reserve the right to make changes to the retreat schedule, facilitators, or venue due to circumstances beyond our control. Any significant changes will be communicated to you as soon as possible.
4. Health and Safety
4.1. It is your responsibility to inform us of any health conditions, dietary requirements, or special needs at the time of booking.
4.2. You are responsible for your own health and well-being during the retreat. Participation in activities is voluntary, and you agree to accept any risks involved.
4.3. We are not responsible for any injuries, illnesses, or accidents that occur during the retreat.
5. Travel and Insurance
5.1. You are responsible for arranging your own travel to and from the retreat venue.
5.2. We strongly recommend obtaining travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances such as cancellations, medical emergencies, or travel delays.
6. Code of Conduct
6.1. We strive to create a respectful and inclusive environment. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior may result in removal from the retreat without a refund.
6.2. You agree to respect the retreat space, facilitators, staff, and fellow participants.
7. Liability
7.1. We are not liable for any loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings.
7.2. Our liability is limited to the retreat cost, and we are not responsible for any indirect or consequential losses.
8. Force Majeure
8.1. We are not responsible for cancellations or changes due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, or government restrictions.
9. Agreement
9.1. By booking a retreat with us, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these strict terms and conditions.
